I am the founder of The Campaign For Equitable Funding (TCFEF). I wanted to make a change in the community because my children's early learning center was defunded in August of 2019 along with other facilities and really, I didn’t understand why. To this day, we still don’t have an answer. The Campaign For Equitable Funding (TCFEF) has parents (as myself) and other advocates that have traveled to state and city officials to have meetings to understand the issues of early learning funding being dispersed in an equitable manner and having a strategizing meeting.
My parenting skills have increased and I have been involved with my children's education more. This pushes me more to make sure that other children have the same education that I want from my children, also to get parents involved and to teach them that as a parent your voice matters.
So, I wanted to figure out a way to educate the families of the community and also bring resources into the community. We have been providing resources for the families in the community that are being overlooked and need the resources the most. It is a great feeling to be a part of this awesome organization that supports and achieves a family’s personal goal and to hear what they have learned with other parents and families.
It's so important to advocate for equitable education funding and resources for all children, especially in underprivileged communities. My dedication to ensuring that all children have access to quality education and resources. I will keep up the great work and continue making a positive impact in the community. I feel like my efforts are making a difference and will benefit so many families and children in the long run.
